The 2026 Thurrock Chess Club Summer Cup has officially concluded after a summer of fantastic games, nail-biting finishes, and excellent sportsmanship across all boards.
Here is the rundown of how the final standings shook out:
Summer Cup Joint Champions: Daniel Chambers & Mridul Sharma
The tournament went right down to the wire. In a thrilling final-round showdown, Daniel produced a brilliant performance with the white pieces to defeat Mridul. That crucial win propelled Daniel to the top of the standings alongside Mridul, earning them both a well-deserved share of the Summer Cup title!
Junior Winner: Oliver
Oliver showed incredible patience and tactical sharpness throughout the event to claim the Junior trophy.
Minor Winner: Abdul
Abdul put together a stellar run of games to take top honors in the Minor section.
