Thurrock beats Wanstead

Last night Thurrock played Wanstead in an away match in the Essex Summer Rapid Plate competition. The competition was tough as not only was this an away game but the opposition was rated an average of 1591 while Thurrock were rated at 1543. This was especially further pronounced on the top two boards where the ratings gap was even greater.

In true upset fashion Mangalaram Sadhasivam managed to see off his opponent on board one with a win in the first half! Considering they are over one hundred and seventy two rating points apart this was a brilliant result. Board two seemed to want to follow in fashion and did exactly the same! Huzaifa Baig scored another point for Thurrock despite being a hundred and thirty rating points lower. Well done to both.

The final results can be seen below. Final score is 5 all but Thurrock pulls off the win based on board count. Any players happy to share the games please feel free to post in the comments section.
